Bokaro: The Jharkhand State Drug Control Directorate has cancelled the licence of the blood centre operated by City Care Hospital and Research Centre, Check Post, Chas, with immediate effect over repeated violations of regulatory norms, civil surgeon Abhay Bhusan Prasad said on Thursday.The action was taken through an order issued by the Directorate after inspections found persistent irregularities at the facility. According to the order, a joint inspection was conducted on Oct 31, 2025, by drug inspector Putli Bilung and Dr Mathili Thakur. The team detected several lapses in the functioning of the blood centre.

Following the findings, the centre was asked to submit an explanation. Its operations, including blood collection, storage, testing and distribution, were suspended from Dec 2, 2025, until further orders, the civil surgeon said.After receiving the centre’s response, the department conducted another joint inspection on March 9, 2026. The inspection team again found irregularities, prompting authorities to seek another explanation from the management. The reply submitted by the blood centre was found unsatisfactory.
