Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum police have suspended four personnel, including Bistupur police station officer-in charge Alok Dubey, for alleged negligence and dereliction of duty after a 24-year-old man, who was allegedly stabbed following a clash at a bar here on Saturday night, died during treatment on Monday evening.SSP Piyush Pandey suspended Dubey on Tuesday. Three members of the patrolling team — assistant sub-inspectors Ratan Kumar Das and Rajesh Kumar Ranjan, and constable Manoj Kumar — were suspended on Monday night. The action followed protests by family members and friends of Himanshu Singh, who accused police of failing to prevent the attack and delaying medical aid. Deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan ordered a comprehensive inquiry, while excise officers sealed the bar pending investigation. State govt deputed additional DG (CID) Manoj Kaushik to supervise the probe.CM Hemant Soren spoke to Himanshu’s parents on the phone on Tuesday and assured them that justice will be delivered. The call came as a JMM delegation, led by former MLA Kunal Sarangi, visited the bereaved family. Himanshu’s father, Arvind Singh, demanded all the accused be arrested within 24 hours, or the family would not cremate the body. An FIR has named 11 accused, including bar owner Niraj Singh and Vijay Kumar. Two accused — Raj Lohar and Sonu Ram Sadar — have been arrested , while raids continue to apprehend others.Himanshu died during treatment at Tata Main Hospital on Monday evening, following which protesters blocked the Bistupur roundabout, burnt tyres and allegedly damaged SP (city) Lalit Meena’s vehicle when he tried to pacify them.Police said Himanshu and his friend Pratyush Singh, 25, objected to men allegedly harassing a woman on the bar’s dance floor on Saturday night. After bouncers escorted both groups outside, Himanshu and Pratyush were allegedly beaten and stabbed repeatedly, reportedly in the presence of the patrolling team. CCTV footage purportedly shows attackers dragging them from a police vehicle. Family members later took the victims to hospital. Pratyush was later shifted to Kolkata in a critical condition.
