Govt submits sealed report to HC on DNA matching in Bokaro missing girl’s case

Ranchi: State govt on Tuesday submitted to Jharkhand high court a sealed report of the testing of DNA samples of the parents of the missing girl from Bokaro, which were matched with a skeleton recovered by police earlier this year. The girl’s mother, Rekha Devi, had claimed that the skeleton was not that of her daughter, who was missing since July 2025. The court then ordered the govt to ensure that samples from the skeleton and samples collected from the parents be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kolkata. The laboratory conducted tests and submitted the report, which was handed over to the court by the govt counsel. The case will be heard again on Thursday. Rekha had filed a habeas corpus petition before the HC after her daughter went missing. A case was registered with Pindrajora police station in Bokaro but police were not able to trace the girl.In another case, a sealed report of the medical examination of a female inmate of Birsa Munda Jail, who was allegedly sexually exploited was handed over to the court by state govt. A judicial inquiry was also conducted in the case on directions of the HC. The court will hear the matter on July 9.
